H. Curtiss Merrick, MD,
founder and
president, is a board certified physician in both
Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. As as internist, he
provides primary medical care to individuals over the
age of 21. As a specialist in geriatrics, he evaluates
and treats disorders that commonly affect patients over
the age of 55.
Dr. Merrick is a
member of the active medical staff at
Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City,
North Carolina. Additionally, he serves as a medical
director of the Century Care of the Crystal Coast
Skilled Nursing Home in Morehead City.
Dr. Merrick
received a Master of Science in Biology at Old Dominion
University. Subsequently, he earned his Doctor of
Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He served
his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the
Geisinger Medical Center.
Dr. Merrick is
board certified in both Internal Medicine and Geriatric
Medicine by the
American Board of Internal
Medicine. He is a Fellow of the
American College of
Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Merrick is a member of the
North Carolina Medical Society
and the Carteret County Medical Society.

E. Clarissa
Whitmore, D.O.,
is a board certified physician in Family Medicine. As a
family physician, she evaluates and treats the full
range of problems patients bring to the doctor, whether
it is a problem of sudden onset or a long term
condition.
Dr.
Whitmore obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at
the University of Texas in 1985 and practiced nursing
for a few years. She then earned her Doctor of
Osteopathy at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the
Pacific in 1992 and completed her residency training in
Family Medicine at the Naval Hospital in Camp Pendleton,
California. Dr. Whitmore received an additional year of
training in Psychiatry at Naval Medical Center, San
Diego. After serving our country as a physician in the
United States Navy for fourteen years, Dr. Whitmore
decided to begin her civilian practice in Morehead City.
Dr.
Whitmore is board certified in Family Medicine by the
American Board of Family
Medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of
Family Physicians, the American College of Osteopathic
Family Physicians, and the American Osteopathic
Association. Dr. Whitmore is licensed by the North
Carolina Medical Board and is a member of the
North Carolina Medical Society. |

Patricia R.
McFadyen, Sc.D., L.P.C., N.C.C., L.P.N.
is a Doctor of Science in Counseling Psychology. In
addition, she is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a
National Certified Counselor, and a Licensed Practical
Nurse.
She
received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from
Guilford College
in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1986. Her interest in
Psychology motivated her to further her education by
completing a Master of Arts in Counseling from Liberty
University in Roanoke, Virginia, in 1990. Subsequently,
she earned a Doctor of Science degree from from Belford
University, Humbel, Texas, in 2007.
Dr.
McFadyen’s expertise is working with adults, children
and families dealing with Substance Abuse and Chemical
Dependency, including alcohol and various drug
addictions. She has special interest in behavioral and
learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder,
bipolar and major depressive disorders, stress
management, depression and anxiety. Dr. McFadyen has
helped many people of all ages to overcome difficulties
associated with many of life's challenges. Her
therapeutic techniques include goal oriented treatment
plans which are tailored to each individual’s needs.

Karen T.
Rowan, FNP-C, CNS, is a Board Certified Nurse
Practitioner with special certification in Psychiatry.
As such, she provides mental health evaluations,
medication management, and psychotherapy.
Ms. Rowan possesses clinical specialization in advanced
practice psychiatry and mental health. She has
additional certification in professional biofeedback
therapy by the
Biofeedback Certification Institute of
America.
Ms. Rowan received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at
the
University of the State of New York. Subsequently,
she obtained a Master of Science in Nursing at
Marymount
University in Arlington, VA. She earned her
Post-Master's Certification in Advanced Practice
Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing at the
University of
Virginia and has completed additional post-graduate
training in family psychotherapy at the
Georgetown
Family Center in Washington, DC.
Ms. Rowan is licensed by the North Carolina Medical
Board and North Carolina Board of Nursing. She is
certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and as a
Clinical Specialist in Adult Psychiatric and Mental
Health Nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing
Center. She is a member of the North Carolina
Biofeedback Society.
